Fazal murder case: CBI bats for action against top police officials for 'recording false statement'

Kannur: CBI sought action against top Kerala police officials involved in the investigation of the Thalassery Fazal Murder case. The report submitted in the special court here reportedly mentions the names of DySPs PP Sadhanandhan and Prince Abraham and CI KP Suresh Babu.

The police allegedly tried to establish that RSS workers were behind Fazal’s murder by 'forcing' Subeesh, an RSS worker, to give a statement. Subeesh was arrested in relation to another case. Kerala High Court had ordered further investigation. CBI however rejected the police version and claimed that Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandhrashekaran are the masterminds of the murder.

The CBI probe has found that Subeesh, who was in custody for Valankichal Mohan murder case, was illegally detained for recording the respective statement. The CBI report flags the 'mismatch' between the statement recorded by the police and circumstances in the Fazal murder case. According to the statement recorded, four individuals travelled on one bike. However, CBI in its report says that it is impossible for the four to travel on one bike.

CPM loyalists in social media propagated that Subeesh is behind the killing even before his ' forced confession', says CBI. There is no new evidence, said the report.

The report also says that the state government has been intimated to take action against the police officials.
