Kerala: COVID-19 transmission highly critical in 5 districts; daily cases to go up
Thiruvananthapuram: The Health Department has reported that five districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode and Kasaragod, are witnessing extreme spread of COVID-19.
The department directed to identify people with COVID-19 symptoms and quarantine them immediately. The latest report of the Health Department also revealed that the daily number of cases will go up in these districts.
Daily COVID-19 cases in the state crossed 5,000 on Wednesday five months after confirming the outbreak. The number of patients in the state will exceed 5,000 in the coming days, observed the Health Department.
COVID-19 is rapidly spreading in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode and Kasaragod. According to various indexes in the weekly report on COVID-19 outbreak, these five districts are facing a serious situation.
The number of COVID positive cases is increasing in Alappuzha, Palakkad and Kozhikode. In Kozhikode district, the test positivity rate was marked at 6.4 percent in September second week. But last week, the test positivity rate rose to 9.1 percent.
In Alappuzha and Kozhikode, the number of patients is doubling day by day. Last week, 91 COVID deaths were reported in the state.
As the COVID-19 transmission turned more extreme, the Health Department issued an order to identify and quarantine people with symptoms. Those who test negative in antigen test even after having symptoms are directed to undergo PCR test.
