Thiruvananthapuram: The Government said that schools in Kerala will reopen on November 1 itself. Minister for education V Sivankutty and health minister Veena George informed that a bio-bubble system will be established to protect students from COVID-19. The ministers were addressing the media jointly after attending a joint meeting of both departments ahead of the school reopening.
The government will ensure that parents, school staff and teachers who interact with children will be vaccinated.
Classes are proposed to be held half-a-day. At least three days of offline class for students will take place. All these suggestions will be presented in front of the state Covid-19 review committee.
A detailed report will be prepared by a secretary-level committee for school reopening. The guidelines will be made ready after detailed scrutiny of each aspect. APM Mohammad Hanish IAS, Principal Secretary, Education Department, Dr. Rajan Khobragade IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Health, and Jeevan Babu IAS, Director of General Education, will prepare the report. As part of this, the departments will hold talks with PWD, Local Self Government Department, Transport Department, teachers’ associations, students' and youth associations, parents and political parties. Committee will look in to all aspects of school life.
All students cannot attend offline classes together. To avoid repetition of classes during different shifts, parallel online classes have to be arranged.
More discussions will be held in the coming days, informed the ministers.
