Malappuram: Anita Mary and AJ Jaison, a couple from Alappuzha, stepped down from government services on Monday alleging harassment from superiors and denial of justice. Jaison was a livestock inspector and Anita was a matron at a government old-age-home in Thavanur, Malappuram.
Jaison mailed his resignation letter to the district animal protection office and Anita sent her letter to the social justice department. According to the duo’s letter, they will not be able to continue working in their jobs with self-respect anymore.
In 2020, Anita filed a complaint with the police alleging misbehaviour from her superior. She claimed that her superiors continued to harass her and used other employees for that purpose too.
According to Anita, she was suspended for seven months based on a false complaint of money theft. However, the superior officer was transferred after the media reported the incident, she said.
Meanwhile, Jaison accused that he was harassed by his department, due to pressure from unions, over getting involved in Anita’s issue. He is currently serving suspension.
Jaison added that he spent time in jail after Tirur police arrested him on a fake complaint of groping a female veterinary surgeon. The couple had earlier announced their resignation in a press conference on February 25.
“We will sell our house and land here and return to Malappuram soon,” they said. Jaison and Anita entered the service in 2005 and 2020 respectively.
