Malappuram: A couple has announced that they are resigning from their respective state government jobs due to harassment from their superiors. Alappuzha natives PS Anita Mary and her husband AJ Jason made the announcement in a press conference in Malappuram on Sunday.
Jason is a livestock inspector, and Anita is a matron at a government old-age-home in Thavanur. In 2020, Anita filed a complaint with the police following misbehaviour from her superior. Anita claimed that superiors continued to harass her using other employees as well.
According to Anita, she was suspended for seven months based on a false complaint alleging that she stole some money. However, the superior officer was transferred after the media reported the incident, she said.
She also claimed that the police dismissed their complaint. "Though the inmates of the old age home supported me, other staff were not cooperating," she added.
Jaison accused that he was harassed by his own department, due to the pressure from unions over getting involved in Anita’s issue. He is currently serving a suspension.
Jaison added that he spent time in jail after Tirur police arrested him on a fake complaint alleging that he groped a female veterinary surgeon. Jaison joined the government service in 2005, and Anita entered the service in 2020.
