Thiruvananthapuram: The high-level Covid-19 review committee meeting will be held on Thursday to decide on further restrictions to be imposed in the state following the surge in cases. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is in the US for treatment, will reportedly attend the meeting online.
Besides CM, health minister Veena George, LSGD minister MV Govindan, department secretaries and health experts will attend the meeting. A complete lockdown is not in the consideration of the government since it will affect economic activities. The government hopes the people will follow the protocols more carefully.
Meanwhile, the virus spread among police and the state secretariat staff is very high. Several offices, including the Chief Minister's, have been closed down temporarily. The library is also closed. Staff organisations have been demanding to reinstate work from home option.
In the last two weeks, 610 police officers tested positive for Coronavirus. This includes 95 officers within the Thiruvananthapuram city police limit. 27 officers in Valiyathura are also on leave due to the infection. The infection is reported among personnel in charge of the security of secretariat, officers in Nandavanam AR Camp and Peroorkada ASP Camp.
