Kottayam: Ending assumptions and confusions, Kerala Congress (M) Jose K Mani faction on Wednesday officially announced their political decision to join the LDF. He also informed that he resigned the Rajya Sabha MP post.
While declaring the entry to LDF, Jose K Mani said that the UDF ousted them in the name of a panchayat and that they cannot go ahead at the cost of self-esteem.
'Congress insulted those who stood by Mani, including the MLAs. They did not initiate any discussion or suggest any formula to take us back. They even tried to hijack the party and supported P J Joseph, who resorted to insult me personally,' Jose K Mani alleged.
The parliamentary committee meeting held in the morning first approved the decision to join the LDF. MP Thomas Chazhikkadan, MLAs Roshy Augustine and N Jayaraj also attended the meeting.
Later, Jose K Mani prayed at the grave of his late father K M Mani and set out to the party headquarters with other leaders. The political stand was declared after the meeting held at Kottayam.
The dispute with P J Joseph faction regarding the Kottayam district panchayat post ended up in the ouster of Jose K Mani faction from UDF. Following this, they decided to join the LDF. CPM agreed to accept them considering their influence among the Christian community in the southern districts.
According to reports, CPM would reach consensus about the seats in Pala and Kanjirappally which are under dispute with other allies in the front. Also, it is learnt that Pala seat will be given to Jose K Mani.
However, the strong stand taken by NCP's Mani C Kappan about Pala seat will result in another crisis in LDF. He had made it clear that he won the seat after 15 years of political battle and it cannot be given back.
