Kerala CM, ministers gear up for European visit; to target investments, higher education sector

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and some of his cabinet ministers are gearing up for a European visit to make interventions for attracting investments to the state and conduct studies on higher education sector. The ministers have planned to visit Britain, Norway and Finland next month.

The visit to Finland has been scheduled following the invitation of the Finland government for analysing the opportunities of higher education in the country. The CM will be accompanied by the Minister of General Education V Sivankutty and the higher officials in the education department during the visit to Finland.

Finance Minister KN Balagopal and Minister of Industries P Rajeev are likely to accompany the CM to Britain. The target of the Britain visit has been expected to attract foreign investments. However, no official confirmation surfaced regarding the purpose of visit. An official visit will be made to Norway also. The state government has approached the central ministries seeking permission for the European visit.
