Kerala clocks 4,700 new COVID cases, 66 fatalities, 4,128 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 4,700 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed the health department in a press release.
Along with 66 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 254 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 40,855 in the state.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram-850, Ernakulam-794, Kozhikode-612, Thrissur-395, Kollam-375, Kannur-309, Kottayam- 295, Alappuzha-215, Pathanamthitta-183, Wayanad-176, Idukki-159, Malappuram-136, Palakkad- 104 and Kasaragod-97. Test positivity rate was recorded at 7.87 percent.
A total of 59,702 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised based on the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 21 wards of 19 local self-government bodies.
1,55,639 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,50,837 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 4,802 people are in hospitals. 315 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
Among the 44,376 active Covid cases reported, only 7.5 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
18 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 4,437 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 205 patients remains unidentified. 40 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 4,128 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-648, Kollam-269, Pathanamthitta-8, Alappuzha-166, Kottayam-285, Idukki-157, Ernakulam-523, Thrissur-390, Palakkad-199, Malappuram-206, Kozhikode-665, Wayanad-227, Kannur-291 and Kasaragod-94.
50,66,034 people were recovered from the disease so far.
