Kozhikode: Kerala is celebrating Bakrid on Friday while maintaining all COVID-19 precautions. All celebrations in connection with the festival will take place ensuring social distancing and minimising the number of get togethers. Hence, Eidgahs will not be allowed in public places.
Bakrid prayers will be conducted in big mosques for 100 people and in small mosques, depending on the availability of space, by adhering to COVID protocols.
However, permission has been denied for mosques in containment zones to perform Bakrid namaz. Health department has put up guidelines to be followed for the Qurbani ceremony. Only five people can take part in this ceremony due to COVID restriction.
Grand Mufti of India and President of the Islamic Community of India, Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar, stated that devotees should exhibit caution and have a dedicated mind for this year’s Bakrid. He also urged everyone to help the familes under distress due to COVID-19 pandemic.
