Thiruvananthapuram: The private bus strike that was to start on Tuesday has been called off. The decision to back out of the strike was taken after a meeting with Minister for Road Transport Antony Raju. The meeting was held on Monday night at 10 in Kottayam. The strike was cancelled after the meeting lasted almost two hours.

Minister Antony Raju said that the needs raised by the bus owners will be considered by November 18. He also said that the discussions regarding this will continue. The bus owners said they have allowed a week for the government to take necessary action and that they received a positive response from the government’s side.

The private buses had declared strike from Tuesday, raising the need that the bus fares for all, including students, must be raised and that diesel subsidy must be provided.
