Kerala Budget allots Rs 2629.31 cr to health sector, RCC to be developed as state cancer centre

Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister KN Balagopal announced new projects and funds for the health sector in the Kerala Annual Budget 2022.

A total of Rs 2629.31 crore has been granted for projects in the health sector. Rs 50 crore will be allotted for virology institute. Promoting cancer treatment in the state, development of Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in Thiruvananthapuram as state cancer centre are the other main announcements. Malabar Cancer Center will recieve a financial aid of Rs 28 crore from the budget.

A cancer control strategy will be implemented in the state, announced the minister. Rs 484 crore has been set aside for National Health Mission and Rs 10 crore for Ayush Mission. Medical colleges will get Rs 250. 7 crore.

Rs 500 crore will be allotted for Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi.

The minister also announced that Digital Health Mission will be implemented across the state.

Rs 2 lakh will be allotted for patients suffering from Sickle cell anaemia. Rs 16 crore to be set aside for the Janani Janma Raksha programme. Rs 5 crore will be allotted for Palliative care units.
