Kalpetta: The state government has started initiative to sell products under the 'Kerala brand’, said industries minister P Rajeev.

The government would certify and market products from the state such as coconut oil, coir and coffee powder. A chain of supermarkets and an e-commerce website will be developed to sell it, he said while interacting with investors and entrepreneurs.

The MSME startup mission is nearing target of one lakh units in a year. Within 7 months, state established 88,217 MSMEs, he said. Earlier, it was around 10,000 per annum. The investments worth Rs 5,488.89 cr ensured job for 1,92,561 people. Kerala would be a heaven for investors if banks and local self-governments joined hands. Banks should show more confidence in providing loans for entrepreneurs. Kerala’s record in issuing loans is lower than that of other states. This has to change, he added.
