Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP announced presidents for 10 districts. However, no consensus has been reached regarding the remaining four.
An announcement regarding the BJP Kerala state president is likely to be made in two days. Presidents for the remaining four districts – Kannur, Kasaragod, Ernakulam and Kottayam - will be announced after the announcement.
V. V. Rajesh is the new Thiruvananthapuram BJP district president while V. K. Sajeevan will hold the post in Kozhikode. E. Krishnadas and Ashokan Kulanada retained their posts is Palakkad and Pathanamthitta districts respectively.
In Kollam, B. B. Gopakumar will be the new BJP district president while M. V. Gopakumar (Alappuzha), K. S. Aji, (Idukki), Ravi Thelath (Malappuram), K. Aneesh Kumar (Thirssur) and Saji Shankar (Wayanad) are the new faces.
V. V. Rajesh is considered a V. Muraleedharan supporter while V. K. Sajeevan is considered a P. K. Krishna Das supporter. New Thrissur BJP president K. Aneesh Kumar is considered a Krishna Das supporter. The former BJP Thrissur district president was a Muraleedharan supporter.
BJP’s district leadership is not a factor in electing the state president as the state chief is not elected by district presidents. However, which faction holds more influence in the districts is important. In the present situation, Krishna Das faction has the upper hand.
BJP is likely to announce national working president J. P. Nadda as the party’s national president following which the Kerala state president will be announced. Only after these announcements would the other district presidents will be announced.
