Kerala bids adieu to IUML supremo Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal

Mortal remains of Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal reaching Panakkad Juma Masjid

Panakkad (Malappuram): Kerala bid adieu to IUML supremo Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal in the wee hours of Monday. He was laid to rest at the Juma Masjid here, which is adjacent to the banks of Kadalundi river, where his father PMSA Pookkoya Thangal and mother Aisha Cherukunji Beevi were laid to rest.

Though the funeral was slated on Monday 9:00 AM, the event was preponed to 2:30 AM due to unfavourable conditions. The Muslim League leader who rose up to a statesman received a revered adieu with full state honours. The funeral function was led by Syed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, veteran IUML leader and the son of the deceased.

Thousands rushed to pay homage to Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, with all roads leading to Thangal’s ancestral house at Panakkad packed with politicians, eminent personalities and commoners. Earlier it was informed that there will be public homage until morning. However, the mortal remains were taken to Panakkad by 12:30 AM.

Though Syed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal requested people not to come to the ancestral house, many reached the house to have a last look. As a result, police and volunteers had a tough time in managing the crowd. Many were restricted at Valiyangadi and Hajiarpalli.

The mortal remains of Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal was taken from the house at 2:00 AM. The funeral was held at 2:30 AM and prayers concluded by 4:00 AM.
