Rosemary Odinga with Jayasree P, a working committee member of Sreedhareeyam hospital
Koothattukulam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, said that Kerala's Ayurveda treatment could retrieve the partial eyesight of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s daughter Rosemary Odinga. It was at a meeting with Raila Odinga that he revealed about his daughter’s treatment from Kerala, added PM.
Rosemary had undergone surgery after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. But she lost her eyesight as an aftermath of it. The eyesight could not be recouped even after taking treatments at several hospitals. Later Odinga came to hear about the Ayurvedic treatment in Kerala. She could recover her eyesight to an extent in two weeks due to the Ayurvedic treatment she undertook in Kerala. PM recalled how emotional Odinga was when he revealed about his daughter’s treatment.
Odinga had asserted that Ayurveda is scientific. He is planning to introduce Ayurveda in Kenya and decided to plant the medicinal herbs for such treatments in his country.
The treatment mentioned by PM Narendra Modi took place at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Clinic and Panchakarma Centre in Koothattukulam. It was in 2020 that Rosemary reached the centre for her treatment and her recovery was progressing under the supervision of Chief Physician Dr Narayanan Namboothiri, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sreekanth Namboothiri, Dr Sreekala and Dr Anjali Sreekanth. Currently, she consults the doctors here online monthly.
