Thiruvananthapuram: Vadakara MLA and RMP leader KK Rema alleged that the Watch and Ward of Kerala Assembly manhandled her during the opposition protest against Speaker AN Shamseer.
The Watch and Ward staff first attacked Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan. They orally abused him. That is when the ruckus started. Four to five guards dragged me through the floor in front of the Speaker’s office, said Rema.
She said that there was no need for such action by the Watch and Ward since the protest was peaceful.
Following the protest, she visited a hospital and wore a sling on her right hand.
The opposition on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Assembly after Speaker denied permission for adjournment motion over women safety in Kerala. They stormed into the well of the Assembly and obstructed the live screening of the proceedings by placing banners blocking the sight of the Speaker.
Meanwhile, an MLA charged at the Speaker and said that he should not act spineless. Treasury bench retorted to this with Minister Mohamed Riyas telling the Speaker that he shall not obey the opposition which has a spine made of banana stem (a colloquial term for saying someone is spineless).
The opposition later walked out and staged a sit-in protest in front of the Speaker's office.
