Thiruvananthapuram: mathrubhumi.com sub-editor Nileena Atholi bagged the EK Nayanar Kerala Legislative Assembly Media Award in the print media category.

The award is given for her series of reportson children affected by spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) published on Mathrubhumi daily in 2021. The series talked about the concerns of children with SMA and their parents.

Significant interventions in issues affecting Kerala society are considered for the award.

Nileena has previously been honoured with prestigious awards like the Ramnath Goenka award, National Media Award, Kerala State Media Award, Youth Talent Award, Press Council of India award and Laadli Media & Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity.
