Kerala assembly bypolls: Nominations filed; scrutiny on Tuesday
Thiruvananthapuram: The deadline for filing nomination for the by-election to five assembly constituencies in the state ended on Monday. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on Tuesday. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till Thursday.
A total of 10 candidates submitted nominations in Vattiyoorkavu constituency. V. K. Prashanth (LDF), K. Mohankumar (UDF) and S. Suresh (NDA) have submitted three sets of nominations. CPM candidate K. C. Vikraman also has submitted nomination. Suresh S. S., Murugan A., A. Mohanakumar, Mithrakumar G., Nagaraj, Vishnu S. Ambadi are independent candidates.
There are 13 candidates in Manjeshwaram. UDF candidate M. C. Khamarudheen, LDF candidate M. Shankar Rai and NDA candidate Raveesha Tantri Kundar filed nominations. Their dummy candidates M. Abbas, P. Raghudevan and Satheesh Chandra Bhandari also filed nominations on Monday. Ambedkar Party of India candidate B. Govindan, independent candidates I. John Dsouza, B. Rajesh, Dr. K. Padmarajan and K. Abdulla also filed nominations.
In Konni, seven candidates filed nominations including two dummy candidates of LDF and BJP. K. U. Janeesh Kumar is LDF candidate while P. Mohanraj is fielded by UDF and K. Surendran is BJP candidate. Jomon Joseph Srambikkal and Sivanandan are independent candidates.
UDF candidate T. J. Vinod and LDF candidate Adv. Manu Roy filed nomination before Ernakulam North City Rationing Office Assistant Returning Officer. NDA candidate C. G. Rajagopal filed nomination in collectorate.
UDF candidate Shanimol Usman and NDA candidate K. P. Prakash Babu submitted nomination before Pattanakkad Block Development Officer. LDF candidate Manu C. Pulikkan had already filed his nomination on Friday.
