Railway upgrades 4 passenger trains in Kerala as express special; fare goes up for general tickets

Kochi: The Southern Railway has decided to operate 4 passenger trains as express special trains in Kerala. Among the 5 express special trains announced on Thursday, 4 are passenger trains operated in Kerala.

As these trains are converted as express special, passengers have to pay a high fare charged on express trains for general tickets. Season tickets will not be applicable for the special trains.

Punalur-Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam-Kollam, Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil passenger trains will take service as express special trains without reservation from October 6, 7 and 8. All these trains have 12 coaches including 10 general coaches and 2 sleeper coaches.
