Thiruvananthapuram: The education department and health department will jointly prepare a special project for the safety of students ahead of the reopening of educational institutions. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that directions in this regard were given to both departments and DGP. Kerala police will play a significant role in the safety of students amid the pandemic.
All station house officers are directed to summon a meeting of school principals and school management representatives for ensuring the safety of the students.
Police will be in charge of inspecting the vehicles which take students to schools. The Chief Minister informed that Motor Vehicle Department will assist police with the same.
Repair works of school buses should be completed by October 20. Drivers of school vehicles and private vehicles which are on school duty must have experience of 10 years. All schools are directed to appoint a teacher as a school safety officer.
Station House Officers must visit the schools and ensure that all the directions of the government are strictly followed. Micro-level planning should be carried out with the participation of the local self-government department, education department and health workers ahead of the school reopening.
Compared to adults, children are less exposed to COVID-19. But there are chances for COVID infection among children. Hence, we should take action by observing this fact. Everyone must get vaccinated before school reopening. School PTA committees must be reorganised immediately, said the CM.
