Angamaly: A woman who tried to self-immolate after setting her two children on fire succumbed to burn injuries here on Wednesday. The deceased is identified as Thuravoor native Anju (29).
Anju who was in critical condition breathed her last in the evening.
Before attempting suicide, she set her two children Athira (7) and Anoosh (3) on fire.
The tragic incident took place around 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
Though the trio was rushed to the hospital, the children were declared dead at the hospital. The mortal remains of the two children are kept at Angamaly LF hospital.
According to neighbours, Anju was deeply depressed following the demise of her husband Anoop.
