Sabarimala temple to open today, 5000 pilgrims to be allowed daily

Pathanamthitta: Sabarimala Lord Ayappa temple will open on Friday evening at 5 for the special rituals in the Malayalam month of 'Karkidakam'. Devotees will be allowed in the temple from Saturday morning.

Only those who booked darshan via virtual queue facility will be allowed to ascend the hills. Each pilgrim must carry either a Covid RT-PCR test negative certificate taken within 48 hours or a certificate of receiving two doses of vaccine.

5000 devotees will be permitted in the temple per day.

The hill shrine will close on July 21.

RTPCR test facility at Nilakkal

COVID RTPCR test facility is established for pilgrims at Nilakkal. Two doctors, nurses, attenders and one pharmacist and one lab technician are deployed at Nilakkal, Pamba and Sannidanam.Those who havn't undergone the RTPCR test before starting the pilgrimage and those in possession of an expired certificate can use the test facility at Nilakkal.

Those who test COVID positive will be immediately taken to COVID First-Line Treatment Centre at Perunad Carmel Engineering College.

Incomplete booking

Virtual booking is not completed yet even after three days. As per the data recorded on Thursday, nearly 15,000 people booked for darshan. It is learned that over 9000 slots need to be filled.
