Kozhikode: As discontent among traders grows over the Covid-19 regulations in the state, former CPM MLA and Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samiti president VKC Mammed Koya criticised the government here on Wednesday.

The government imposed unscientific rules on the operation of shops,he opined at the ‘Wake Up Kerala’ show aired on ‘Mathrubhumi News.’

When shops are allowed to open only once a week, people who make purchases other days are forced to visit the shop on this particular day. This will create a crowd and the traders will be unable to follow the COVID protocol, said Koya.

Crowding in shops can be avoided if the traders are allowed to open the shops every day, at least with some timing regulations, he added.

He also complained that the traders are not consulted while framing such rules.

Protesting against the rules, Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Samiti will hold demonstrations in front of the secretariat, district collectorates and the local self-government institutions on Wednesday.
