Kochi: The Customs officials stated that Arjun Aayanki is a major link in the Karipur gold smuggling case. The remand report submitted by the Customs revealed that Arjun is not cooperating with the probe and he attempted to destroy the evidence in the case. The Customs also sought Arjun Aayanki’s custody for 15 days.

In the statement, Arjun claimed that he reached Karipur airport to borrow Rs 15,000 from Shafeeq. But it is a fabricated story. Arjun led a luxury lifestyle though he did not have any job. He is linked with a gold smuggling racket, it is revealed in the remand report.

Sajesh is only a benami of Arjun Aayanki. The car seized by the probe team also belonged to Arjun. Many youngsters are involved with the racket. They were also used for gold smuggling. More details are yet to be known. The facts that came into light are only the tip of an iceberg, Customs informed the court.

Police arrested Arjun Aayanki only the other day. Earlier, it was revealed that Arjun told Customs officials that he threw his mobile phone to the river for destroying evidence. Meanwhile, Arjun’s lawyer alleged that he is innocent and he is being trapped in the case.

At the same time, Customs have served notice to former DYFI office-bearer Sajesh to appear for interrogation on Wednesday. Sajesh was a DYFI secretary at Chembilode north region. Earlier, it was found that Arjun used Sajesh’s car. Following this, the party expelled Sajesh.
