Thiruvananthapuram: DGP Loknath Behera stated that he didn’t act as a bridge between the central government and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Hailing the CM, Behera stated that he is 100 percent professional and never gets bothered about opposition’s allegations. He was talking to Mathrubhumi News in a special interview ahead of his retirement.

“I have worked with the CM for 5 years. He is very professional. We only talk about professional matters. The CM always wanted to improve the law and order in the state,” said Behera.

The DGP also talked about the need to frame a law to curb smuggling activities in Kerala. He also revealed that he forwarded a proposal for the same to the government.

“Though the central agencies are probing into smuggling cases, an effective mechanism in the state will help to control offences related to it,” he said.

Kerala police will not tolerate terrorist threats. We will prevent all anti-national activities. Police have been taking necessary action secretly. So Keralites don’t need to worry about it, he added.

At the same time, he expressed sadness on not getting the post of CBI chief. I was informed that I got the highest score on the shortlist of CBI chief. So I was disappointed, said Behera.
