Kannur: CPM has decided to put an end to the issues related to P Jayarajan over allegedly promoting individual worship. The district secretariat took the decision after discussing the report of the three-member commission appointed to inquire about the allegations.

In the inquiry, the commission concluded that P Jayarajan has no role in the attempts to promote himself above the party.

The commission including AN Shamseer, N Chandran and TI Madhusoodanan examined the allegations in detail.

P Jayarajan faced criticism after his followers glorified him with songs, flex boards and slogans.

Following this, the CPM state committee criticised Jayarajan for not restricting his followers from individual worship during the campaign. Later, the state committee directed the district committee to investigate the allegations against Jayarajan. With this, the Kannur district committee appointed a three-member commission.

A group of people called ‘Ambadimukku comrades’ who joined the party from Sangh Parivar associations at Thalappu in Kannur are identified as the group behind the row. They placed a flex board that featured Pinarayi Vijayan as Arjuna and P Jayarajan as Sreekrishna. Later, similar boards appeared in many places across Kannur. Songs hailing Jayarajan as a revolutionary leader also widely circulated.

Campaign on social media under PJ Army glorifying Jayarajan also irked the party. In this situation, the state committee intervened to restrict individual worship.

Some issues took place following the commencement of the inquiry against Jayarajan. A group of followers expressed protest for not giving district secretary post to P Jayarajan after he faced defeat in the Lok Sabha election. PJ army in social media also protested over denying seat to Jayarajan in the assembly polls.

Dheeraj Kumar, one of the members in ‘Ambadimukku Comrades’ expelled from the party for staging a protest publicly.

But, P Jayarajan publicly disowned the PJ army and issued a statement declaring that if people who claim his well-wishers oppose the party’s decisions, he will consider them as his enemies. He also asserted that he will take legal action if anyone criticises the party over his name. Considering all this, CPM leadership decided to end the issues related to P Jayarajan over individual worship.
