Kasaragod: Former revenue minister E Chandrasekharan welcomed the Enforcement Directorate’s probe into the Muttil tree felling case. Reacting to the controversies, he stated that he granted permission to cut trees giving priority to the interest of the farmers.
“If anyone misused my order to chop the trees, strict action should be taken against them. I would like to welcome investigations under any central agencies including ED,” declared the former minister.
The order to cut the trees was issued after receiving continuous requests from political parties and farmers. But no permission was granted to cut the tree from the patta land. Complaints were raised over the illegal cutting of trees behind the order. In this background, I decided to nullify the order. While reacting to an adjournment motion in the assembly, as revenue minister I declared a probe and action against those who misused my order, he added.
Only those who committed offence should be afraid. I welcome all kind of probe into the tree felling case, said Chandrasekharan.
