New Delhi: Mathrubhumi Director Col AVM Achuthan passed away here on Wednesday. He was 95.

Col. A.V.M. Achuthan has been Director of the Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Company Ltd since 1985. He was born on 15th June, 1926.

He retired as Colonel in the Indian Army [Army Service Corps] after serving for more than 30 years. Post his retirement from the Indian Army, he was Comptroller, President’s Household in the President’s Secretariat, Rashtrapati Bhavan during the tenure of the former President of the Indian Union, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy.

Col. Achuthan is the son of Late Kozhipurathu Madhava Menon and Late A.V. Kuttimalu Amma, both freedom fighters and founders of Mathrubhumi and former Directors of the Company.

He is married to Malini and have 3 children – Rohini, Rajini, Rajagopal.
