Sankaranarayana Pramod appointed new chief priest for Guruvayur temple

Thrissur: Sankaranarayana Pramod, a native of Ottappalam, was selected as the new chief priest (melsanthi) of Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple.

Present Chief Priest Moorthiyedath Krishnan Namboodiri selected the new chief priest through a draw of lot.

Out of the 43 applicants, Sankaranarayana Pramod got elected from the list of 36 qualified candidates. It is for the first time, he is getting elected as chief priest of Guruvayur temple.

At present, he is serving as chief priest at Chathankkadu Devi Temple in Ottappalam.

The temple authority appoints a chief priest for a period of 6 months from April 1.

Sankaranarayana Pramod is the son of Thiyyannur Sankaranarayana Unni Namboodiri and Edappal Kunnathu Mana Santha Antharjanam. His family includes his wife Resmi Antharjanam (a teacher at UP School in Varode) and two sons Rishikesh and Harikesh.
