Thrissur: The state government will take a decision on conducting Thrissur Pooram amid the COVID-19 protocol. The district administration and Thiruvambady-Paramekkavu Devaswom committees failed to reach a consensus over the matter even after holding discussions thrice.
Following this, the state government has decided to intervene in the matter.
The district authority refused to accept the request of the devaswom committees to conduct all rituals of Pooram and related programmes as per the tradition.
Though the devaswom committees convinced to reduce the number of people at the festivals, they refused to cut short the rituals.
The district authority pointed out that if the number of elephants is not restricted, it will be impossible to control the crowd.
