Thiruvananthapuram: The youth organised a movement against the state government after many people in the PSC rank list were denied appointment. The government and LDF are worried about the movement of the PSC rank holders staged without the support of any political parties.

Though the Chief Minister tried to defend the movement by producing the list of PSC appointments, the group produced the list of appointments that were denied.

As the appointment of a CPM leader’s wife triggered a controversy, the protest of the rank holders will create a great impact in the society. The recommendation letter issued from the party for obtaining appointment in Kalady University has strengthened the allegations.

Number of personal staff

Earlier, CPM has decided to limit the number of personal staff to ministers at 25. But the majority of ministers including the Chief Minister did not follow this decision.

As per rule, ministers are allowed to appoint 30 people as personal staff. The government has amended this rule increasing the number of personal staff to 37 for the Chief Minister.

Apart from this, the government has been facing allegation over bid to regularise the contract staff and nepotism in the appointment.

LDF argued that the government has created more job opportunities and carried out PSC appointments efficiently.

PSC has issued advise memo to 1,51,513 people till December 31.

30,000 job opportunities were created through start-ups. At the same time, small scale entrepreneurships have generated job to 82,000 people.1,16,440 job opportunities were assured by declaring a 100-day action plan, argues the LDF government.

At the same time, UDF claimed that they issued 1,54,355 advise memos during their reign.

Freezing of rank list over Kerala Bank

The state government has frozen the rank list of 7000 candidates over the formation of Kerala Bank. Though the court ordered to report the vacancies, the government did not follow it. Now, the government has decided to appoint 1800 people by ignoring the PSC.

Contract appointments are continuing illegally in public firms and apex institutions through PSC is entitled to carry out the appointments.
