Kottayam: PJ Joseph faction of Kerala Congress has been facing a crisis after the congress leadership demanded all seats except one in Kottayam assembly constituency. DCC has sent a letter to AICC general secretary Tariq Anwar demanding Congress members be allotted all seats except Kaduthuruthy in Kottayam.

At the same time, Joseph faction of Kerala Congress has demanded 6 seats possessed by them in the last polls. Though Joseph faction expected at least 3 seats in Kottayam, it is examined that only one seat will be allotted to the party.

Kaduthuruthy, Changanassery, Pala, Ettumanoor, Kanjirappally, Poonjar, Kottayam, Puthuppally and Vaikkom are the seats in Kottayam constituency.

Many leaders are identified as candidates along with PJ Joseph. Hence, allotting seats for each one will be a tough task for UDF. Joy Abraham, Johny Nellur, Francis George, Thomas Unniyadan, Joseph M Puthussery, Prince Lukose and Saji Manjakadambil are the other leaders who are expected to contest the polls.

Responding over the seat-sharing, Kerala Congress leaders stated that they will demand the sitting seats of the party.

The UDF should accept our demand as per the agreement within the front, they added.

Joseph faction is expecting to confirm an equal number of seats in UDF compared to the seats allotted to Jose faction in LDF.
