Karat Faisal
Kozhikode: Karat Faisal, contesting as independent candidate, won the LSG polls. He was contesting from 15th division of Chundappuram in Koduvally municipality.
Earlier, LDF named Faisal as candidate in the municipality but his candidature was denied after customs interrogated him in the gold smuggling case. The Koduvally local committee had declared Faisal as LDF candidate. As it triggered a controversy, the state leadership intervened and declared INL leader OP Rasheed as LDF candidate. He secured nil votes.
Following this, Faisal contested as an independent candidate.
