Govt bound to protect customs, says Kadakampally


Devaswom minister stated that this year’s Makaravilakku festival in Sabarimala will be held without any trouble

Thrissur: Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran declared that the government has taken a firm stand to protect the temple customs. The minister pointed out that attempts to create conflict in Sabarimala will not be allowed.

Addressing media at Thrissur, Minister Kadakampally Surendran stated that this year’s Makaravilakku festival in Sabarimala will be held without any trouble.

“Government has taken action to implement Supreme Court order allowing entry of women to Sabarimala. Such a stand was taken as government is bound to follow the court order and is loyal to the constitution. Meanwhile, government has given priority to protect the interest of lakhs of devotees who visit temples,” said minister.

He added that the functioning of temples in the state should be taken forward by prioritising the interest of devotees.
