Kochi: It is noted that the theatre owner Satheesh who took initiative to disclose the child abuse inside his theatre was illegally arrested by the police. Police arrested Satheesh on Monday as per section 19 (1) D and section 25 of POCSO act.
But police need prior permission and warrant issued by the court to arrest him under this act. Hence, according to legal experts, the arrest was illegal.
Meanwhile, a group of police officials expressed displeasure over the arrest of theatre owner. According to some of the officials, the arrest will discourage public from helping police.
