By his father's side- Former Mayor Suma Balakrishnan's son Kaushal Balakrishnan laid to rest in the grave next his father
Kannur: ‘This is the grave that my husband built for us. Let my son rest alongside my husband now’, she said with a trembling voice, tormented by the sorrow of losing her son. Former Kannur Mayor Suma Balakrishnan’s son Kaushal Nambiar was laid to rest at the grave dug right next to his father. Kaushal Nambiar died on Saturday morning due to illness.
About 25 years ago, when T. V. B. Nambiar and his wife Suma Balakrishnan shifted from Mumbai to their house ‘Kusumam’ located in Kannur, they had built two graves in the southeast direction of their courtyard. It was a piece of intriguing news that they built graves for themselves while they were alive. ‘These graves are for the two of us. Even after death, we shall lay together’, T. V. Balakrishnan Nambiar had said when asked about the matter.
T. V. B. Nambiar passed away earlier due to ailments. He was laid to rest in the grave built by him just as he wished. Suma Balakrishnan told former Congress leader Katteri Narayanan that she never expected to lay her son to rest in the grave that her husband had built for her. Kaushal had scribbled over his father’s grave - ‘My daddy sleeps here.’ Now, the son sleeps right next to his daddy.
