Kozhikode: Muslim Youth League (MYL) national general secretary C. K. Subair has come up with an explanation regarding the Kathua-Unnao fund misappropriation allegation levelled against the party leaders.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Subair said that the Kathua-Unnao fund misappropriation allegation was scripted by the Higher Education Minister.
“K. T. Jaleel has enmity towards P. K. Firoz as the Muslim Youth League leader’s allegations had tarnished the minister’s image. In retaliation, Jaleel is taking revenge by targeting Firoz,” said Subair.
The allegation is that crores of rupees were misappropriated from the Kathua-Unnao funds. The allegation itself is baseless. Only Rs 39,33,697 was collected in the Punjab National Bank account. Out of this, Rs 24,60,000 has already been spent. The remaining Rs 14,73,697 is in the bank account, said Subair.
“K. T. Jaleel said that there would be an investigation over the funds. We welcome the probe. But will the minister apologise if he is proved wrong?” questioned the MYL leader.
Allegations that the family of Kathua incident victim was not given any financial aid is baseless. Even the images of the money being handed over to the family have come out. The other allegation is that the MYL general secretary paid the debts created by the ‘Yuvajana Yathra’. This is also wrong. The Kathua-Unnao funds were collected by the national committee. Hence dragging P. K. Firoz’s name in the issue is politically motivated, he added.
MYL national president Mueen Ali Shaihab Thangal, who initially had come out against the party leadership when the allegations were raised, was present along with C. K. Subair during the press conference.
Mueen Ali Shaihab Thangal said that there were some confusions and that they had been clarified. Details of the fund were presented in the MYL committee in Mumbai. Mueen Ali Shaihab Thangal had left the committee earlier and hence he was not aware of the details, explained Subair.
