KAS notification to be released on Kerala Piravi day
Thiruvananthapuram: Public Service Commission will issue notification regarding the Kerala Administrative Service on Friday. The selection timeline was set setup in such a way that the rank list of the first batch will be prepared by November 2020.
The applicants will be given a month’s time to file their applications. The preliminary exams will be held in February 2020. The dates of the main exam and interview will be notified later. The exam structure and the syllabus will be included in the notification to be published by PSC.
PSC chairman MK Zakir will make the official announcement regarding this on Friday at 3 pm, following which it will be published on PSC website. MK Zakir has claimed that this is PSC’s Kerala piravi gift.
A Bachelor’s degree in any subject is the basic qualification required for KAS. The upper age limit that has been set for direct appointment is 32 years, for promotion in general category is 40 years and second promotion from first gazetted officer is 50 years.
The notification has been prepared expecting that there will be over 100 vacancies. Like in IAS, the selected candidates will be trained collectively after sending them the appointment order. The training period will be 18 months.
However, it is not yet clear if the questions for the preliminary exams will be available in Malayalam as well. The prelims will be held for a total of 200 marks. The examination will contain two parts, the first part will have OMR questions and the second part will have language-based questions. Of the total 50 marks, English will have a weightage of 30 marks and Malayalam 20.
The main exam will be descriptive. It will have 3 sections containing 100 marks each. The interview will contain 50 marks.
