Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM State Secretariat flayed A C Moideen, former local self-government minister and Baby John, CPM State Secretariat member, over failure in reporting irregularities associated with Karuvannur Co-operative Bank to the government on time. They also failed to convince the state committee the seriousness of the irregularity, the report said.
The state secretariat also highlighted the failure of CPM district committee in this regard. In the co-operative sector, 90 percent banks are under the control of CPM and are used mostly by middle-class and poor people. A massive irregularity in a bank under its ambit affected the reputation of CPM and opposition used it to a great extent against the government.
