Thrissur: Some of the accused arrested in connection with the Karuvannur bank scam had raised allegations against former CPM Thrissur district secretariat member CK Chandran. They accused him of swindling money from the bank. However, CK Chandran discarded the claims and asserted that he was unaware of the issues related to the bank.

CK Chandran told Mathrubhumi News that all the accused behind the scam were caught and imprisoned, and he had no clue about the frauds at the bank.

When asked about the allegations against the party district leadership, CK Chandran retaliated and questioned whether the party workers were entrusted with bank affairs.

None of the party members was accountable for the scam and the responsibility lies solely upon the governing body, which includes director board members, president and secretary, he added.

“The party had taken required actions when the scam surfaced. The case will proceed as per the legal formalities and there is nothing more to disclose over the issue now,” said CK Chandran.

Meanwhile, CPM district secretary MM Varghese alleged that CK Chandran was aware of all the swindles reported at the Karuvannur bank. It was after finding this that the party expelled CK Chandran, said Varghese.
