Thrissur: MV Suresh, the first person to file a complaint highlighting the fraud at the Karuvannur cooperative bank, will give a statement to the ED regarding the same on Monday. ED has asked Suresh to appear before the agency’s Ernakulam office at 10:30 am.
Suresh, who served as the extension unit manager of the bank, filed the complaint with evidence with the cooperative department on 16 January, 2019. Suresh’s complaint seeking a CBI investigation into the scam is under consideration by the Kerala High Court.
Suresh was suspended for around four years earlier, for filing several complaints. Also, two cases were registered against him. He was dismissed from service on August 20, 2020, when the probe into the matter began.
A video of Suresh raising the complaint on the Karuvannur bank fraud case to the then cooperative minister during a live TV session had turned viral. The Crime Branch had recorded his statement in the complaint that he had filed with the governor regarding the scam.
The previous day, ED quizzed former CPM district secretariat member CK Chandran. Following this, the agency asked Suresh to appear before them to record his statement and evidence.
