Thrissur: The CPM has initiated action against the party workers who are involved in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam. Action was initiated against a total of 8 party workers. Two district committee members were demoted to area committee and Irinjalakkuda area secretary also was removed from the position. The bank employees who are accused in the scam were already ousted from the party.
The disciplinary action was initiated following the district secretariat meeting and the district committee meeting held the other day. District committee members Ullas Kalakkatt and K R Vijaya were demoted to the area committee.
It was decided in the meeting to suspend former district secretariat member and current Irinjalakkuda area committee member P K Chandran. They also decided to expel all members of the bank administrative committee except for one.
Purachery local committee secretary also has been suspended for one year. The bank employees who were named accused in the case were ousted from the party. Action was initiated against local committee members Sunil Kumar and Biju Kareem and branch committee member Jilson.
