Karuvannur bank scam: CPM fears accused, says VD Satheesan
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said that CPM fears the accused in the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank scam. He said that if the accused are questioned, then the involvement of CPM leaders in the case will come out. He also said that the common people lost Rs 100 crores due to the irresponsibility of the party district leadership and state leadership even after knowing about the huge scam at Karuvannur bank.
The news was published in the newspapers following the information from the crime branch that the accused in the case have been arrested. V D Satheesan asked why the arrested persons haven’t been produced before the court. He also said that if the police investigate the Karuvannur bank scam, then the government will influence them and that the case should be transferred to CBI.
V D Satheesan also criticised the restrictions imposed in the state due to COVID. He pointed out that imposing triple lockdown based on TPR is not effective. When the lockdown was implemented on June 16, only 23 places were included. On July 31, it rose to 323. He said that constant lockdown measures have pushed the economic status of the state down the hill and that many are struggling to survive.
He said that the things he said in assembly before are the same things pointed out by former health minister, Shailaja teacher. The government is declaring incentive packages without setting aside money for these packages. V D Satheesan also said that giving out pensions is the responsibility of the government and questioned how it can be considered as incentive package.
