MLA CR Mahesh with his friend's car at a public event
Ochira (Kollam): Karunagappalli MLA CR Mahesh is perhaps the only MLA in Kerala who does not have a car. As he does not own a vehicle, the MLA still uses cars of his friends.
Even though he doesn’t own a car, he keeps two small signboards that read ‘MLA’ with him all the time. Whenever he is off to his official duties, these boards will be placed in the car that is brought by his friends.
Sometimes, when his friends have to take the car for his personal needs, the MLA will hire an autorikshaw or turn a pillion rider on his friends' motorcycle to travel to places.
CR Mahesh had plans to buy a car taking a loan that is granted to the MLAs. Unfortunately, his father-in-law and his brother passed away at that time. With this, he faced financial difficulties and decided to keep aside the plan to buy a car.
Last year, Mahesh also received a notice of attachment for a loan taken in his mother’s name.
“Even if I buy a car by taking loan, a large sum of money should be paid every month. However, this will be a trouble in the current circumstances. I will buy a car when situation turns favourable and until then I will have to use my friend’s car,” Mahesh said.
