Karuna music concert controversy: Organisers questioned by police


Police will submit its report on the case to the District Police Chief after taking statements from all those involved in the case.

Kochi: Police interrogated the organisers of Karuna music concert, held here in November, after a controversy surfaced on the possibility of an alleged scam. Police took a detailed statement from Kochi Music Foundation president Bijibal. Statements have been taken from others including director Ashiq Abu.

The interrogation happened at Ashiq Abu’s Cafe Papaya, in the city, on Wednesday. The organisers claimed that the program incurred a loss. They said that while close to Rs 23 lakhs was spent on the program, they were able to generate only Rs 6.22 lakhs via ticket sales.

Police will submit a report on the case to the District Police Chief after taking statements from all those involved in the case.

Kochi City Commissioner ordered for a probe in the case based on the complaint filed by Yuva Morcha leader Sandeep Varier.
