Karma Samithi ends protest; Trupti may retreat by evening
Kochi: Sabarimala Karma Samithi has decided to end the protests with the police assuring the protesters that women would not be allowed to enter the holy shrine of Sabarimala. The decision to end protest was taken in a meeting held by Police Additional Commissioner K. P. Philip with Hindu Aikyavedi state secretary R. V. Babu and BJP leader C. G. Rajagopal.
Earlier, the leaders claimed that they will continue with the protests in front of the Kochi city commissioner’s office till Trupti retreats.
A lot of activists gathered in front of the commissioner’s office on coming to know that Trupti and other women were present in the office. Protesters, including women, gathered in front of the office chanting prayers as part of the protest.
Reports suggest that the police are planning to send Trupti back. They have informed Trupti that police protection can only be provided for her return to the airport and not to Sabarimala.
Trupti along with her gang reached Kochi airport on Tuesday morning. They were joined by Bindu Ammini as well. Although they left for Sabarimala from the airport, they reached the city commissioner's office seeking police protection. Here Bindu Ammini was attacked with Chilli spray.
