Karipur visit: CM Pinarayi Vijayan, 7 ministers and speaker to enter self-quarantine
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and seven ministers will enter self-quarantine after the Malappuram district Collector tested COVID-19 positive on Friday. Malappuram district Collector N. Gopalakrishnan had accompanied the Chief Minister and team during their visit to the Karipur flight crash site.
Along with the CM, Health Minister K. K. Shailaja, Minister for Local Self-Governments A. C. Moideen and Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan, Minister for Higher Education K. T. Jaleel, Minister for Industries and Sports E. P. Jayarajan, Minister for Agriculture V. S. Sunil Kumar, Minister for Port Kadannappalli Ramachandran and Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan have also decided to enter self-quarantine. They visited the Karipur flight crash site along with the Chief Minister.
A. C. Moideen decided to undergo self quarantine even though his antigen tests came out negative.
At the same time, Rajbhavan informed that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will not undergo self-quarantine. The Governor had also visited the flight crash site along with the CM and other ministers.
The Malappuram district Collector, sub-collector and 21 other officials at the collectorate tested COVID positive on Friday. Malappuram SP U. Abdul Kareem was diagnosed with the disease on Thursday.
With this, the Chief Minister will not attend the Independence Day celebrations at the central stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran will lead the state-level Independence celebrations in the absence of the CM.
