Ramees died in the accident that took place at Kannur-Azhikode road. He was a close friend of Arjun Ayanki, the key suspect of the Karipur gold smuggling case. Police had interrogated Ramees in connection with the case and the death happened when he was about to appear before the Customs in Kochi.

Police have however made it clear that there was nothing mysterious behind the death of Ramees. But Aswin has also died soon after the death of Ramees.

Aswin was admitted to hospital after vomiting blood. But he could not survive and succumbed on Monday morning. Doctors confirmed that the cause of death was internal haemorrhage.
