Accused, Dress laced with gold

Malappuram: Police on Tuesday arrested a man from Karipur airport for smuggling gold worth Rs 1 crore layered in his attire. The arrested has been identified as Muhammad Safuvan (37).

The man arrived on an Indigo flight from Dubai. The officials caught the person after he managed to escape customs checking. The person had laced the gold paste in his pants and vest. It weighed 2.205 kg. According to police, 1.75 kg of it is gold.

Police intervention was based on intelligence inputs. This is the 12th seizure by the police in the last two months.
